This no cd function allows for better performance (with a full install) as there are no files on the CD that EAW needs. See my 'Hexedited Patches Help Document' for details how to use the no cd once your patched up.

For all official MPS versions of EAW, 1.0 , 1.1 , 1.2 
These are drop in replacement exe's for easy "installation". There are some DOS patcher programs that patches your eaw.exe if you prefer.

These are the official two version patches put out by MPS. There is one download with the English patch files already extracted if you need those. See my 'Microprose Patches Help Document' for more information on v1.1 and v1.2.

Note: This is an odd patch, much smaller than other patches. I haven't dissected it yet, but applying over an English v1.2 Patch may lead to a few weird keyboard bugs.... Known Bugs: When ESC is pressed to exit the mission, press the Y key instead of the S key to confirm the exit. When configuring the game keys, to confirm the change press the J key instead of the S key.

Installation Instructions (from Infogrames (2002))

If you have the rerelease of European Air War (with the Infogrames logo on the CD), the patch is available on the CD, inside of the Patch folder. It is ?identical? to the above MPS patch; you do not need to download this one. However, if you have the older CD of the game you will need to download it.

WARNING: The 1.2 patch assumes you’ve already installed and played European Air War 1.0. If you’ve installed the 1.0 version but haven’t run it yet, before installing the 1.2 patch, you must start a game on 1.0 and get into flight. A simple way to do this is to run the game, and select Quick Start from the main menu. Once you see your plane in the air, you may quit out and install the 1.2 patch. If you attempt installing the 1.2 patch without having played the 1.0 version, you will likely receive an error message from the patching program.

Once you've downloaded the patch, or confirmed that you have it on the CD, and you have started one game of European Air War as described above, you are ready to install the patch:

Double-click on the EAWv1-2.EXE file that you downloaded, or the one in the Patch folder on your CD.
The system should confirm the folder you installed European Air War to...if for some reason it reports the wrong folder, click "No" and navigate to the correct one. The patch will automatically update the files it needs to.

EAW v1.2 German Update: (eawv1-2G.exe 5.73MB)

Aug 12 1999 update. If you have the Censored German version, you can patch it with the English v1.1 or v1.2. This will make all menus in English. You will also get the right plane markings, etc... :-)
