INTRODUCTION

These documents are full of Introductory and Troubleshooting information. Some also showcase the new abilities and features found in the revised EAW games. Read on....

These help documents are for all versions and types of the EAW game. Such as some that are focused on the official versions, like; EAW MPS v1.0 v1.1 and v1.2. Including the newly provided official super hacked EAW GOG 1.2 version. Other documents have notes about other un-official hacked eaw.exe's, Including; some of the special Hex edited eaw.exe's, code manipulated EAWPRO and source coded EAW CG v1.28 and up.

Don't allow the length of some of these documents on this site bother you. Usually the basic information to get you through your issue is at the beginning of the help document. What normally follows is perhaps therough details to help even the non technical person. Yes, some of it is very technical, but you can always ask questions.

These Help Docs are listed in order for the steps to take by a new person too the game. Otherwise pick and choose which one to read based on what you need.

GET STARTED HERE

  • [1] First Use - Details on what you should know when starting off with EAW, even before installing the game. Includes overall details on the different versions and types of the EAW game available to you from different oulets.
     
  • [2] Install - How to quickly add the game CD files to any Windows OS, then use the official patchers to update the game. Plus steps you need to follow after you complete any install. A good read for all, or at least skim it.
     
  • [3] Configuration - Details about how to set up the basic configuration settings in the game. Mentions some of the more complex settings that are harder to understand.
     
  • [4] Joystick and Controls - Learn how to best setup your all-in-one Joystick, (separate devices like Pedals and Throttles may work in some cases). A section of instructions to help assign your keyboard functions to buttons.
     
  • [5] Display - Details to set custom resolutions, square and wide viewing area. Graphical enhancements that are set out of the game, such as Anti-Alias AA, and explaining the benefits of those filters.
     
  • [6] EAW.INI - Very detailed information and notes about the various settings inside the eaw.ini file. This directly correlates with the difficulty of your game and all the other settings you can make in game, plus some you can't.
     
  • [7] Multiplayer - Information on connecting, joining and hosting. With information on how add-ons work in multiplayer (or won't work in some cases).
     
  • [8] Troubleshoot - Information on specific problems and general errors you may have. 

 

 

AUX HELP DOCUMENTS

  • Sounds - Almost everything to guide you in editing sounds in the game. Sound Formats and Lists included.

  • Performance - System Requirements and a record of compatibility and performance of EAW on WindowsOS.
     
  • AI Explained - How to tweak the behavior of the A.I. by way of Update Rate; Make the A.I. smarter. Also included is a section on other methods to make the game harder or more challenging.
     
  • WingMen and Comms - How to effectively use your squad mates and how to get them to listen to your Commands with improved results. Includes other Pilot Radio usage.
     
  • Missions - Information and details on how to use saved mission files to your benefit. More information on Quick , Single and Career Missions. Some technical info on the saved files included.
     
  • Flight Training and Testing - Very basic suggestions you can try or should know about flying in EAW. Also Tips on how to do some unique things with the game.
     
  • Using Addons - Instructions on how to use add-on files. Including "installing" or "uninstalling" them, primarily for EAWv1.2. Note: This help needs an update, some of it is WIP.

  • Many Copies - Information on how to use more than one install of EAW. This is a common practice for most playaers and mod makers whom use several versions of the game.

  • Known Bugs - Focusing on bugs that are there in v1.0, v1.1 and v1.2. A detailed bug list is provided.

  • Feature Ideas - Thoughts on new features for the v1.2+ Game. With a detailed list.
     
  • CodeGroup Known Bugs and Feature Ideas - Focusing on ideas for a better game, plus bugs introduced and feature drops.
     
  • Windows ACT ToolKit - Sections dedicated to getting EAW running under W2k and WinXP natively, without wrappers. Also sections on the ACT ToolKit to set and possibly improve overall compatibility for EAW. This portion is not required reading, its more involved and about testing and running the game with different compatibility settings.
     
  • Model Making - a very much WIP Help Document.....any help is appreciated to finish it. (so far little help has been given since I started this several years ago)....
